  • Reporting to the Box Office Manager, the assistant Box Office Manager supports the daily operations of the Box Office, ensuring exceptional customer service and efficient ticketing processes for both Syracuse Stage and the SU Department of Drama performances. This role also works closely with Group Sales to manage contracts and provide administrative support that enhances the overall patron experience.

  • The Electrician / Board Op reports to the Lighting & Projections Supervisor and assists in the load-in, hang, focus, tech/programming, and strike of all Syracuse Stage and Syracuse University Department of Drama productions. They also assist in the maintenance of all electrical stage equipment and in the supervision of student crews as directed by the Lighting & Projections Supervisor.

  • The non-Equity Assistant Stage Manager assists the Stage Manager with all aspects of preparation, rehearsal, and performance of Syracuse Stage productions.

  • The Overhire Prop Craftsperson will join a 4-person staff working to support both Syracuse Stage and Syracuse University Department of Drama. The Overhire Prop Craftsperson is a direct report to the Prop Supervisor and works closely with the Assistant Prop Supervisor and students. A typical season consists of 12+ fully supported productions as well as other smaller events. The prop shop encompasses two workspaces: a woodshop for construction and small paintwork, and a clean shop for sewing, delicate crafts, and paper props. The shop also has four inventory storage locations: two off-site warehouses, and two on-site rooms. The prop shop is one of three shops, together with scenery and paints, that make up the Scenic Department. Regular collaboration between these shops is to be expected.

  • Reporting to the show’s Stage Management team, Run Crew members provide backstage support for Syracuse Stage productions in areas of scenery, properties, costumes, and other departments.

    Specific duties of Run Crew members will depend on which area they are assigned to.

  • Syracuse Stage does not accept or review unsolicited scripts. Agents and theater professionals may submit new and previously produced scripts by invitation only. New York City auditions will be held on Tuesday May 19 (musicals) and May 20 (plays) at the Actors Equity Building.  AEA Members may audition for the LORT Season, for the U/RTA show, or for both.

What Should I prepare?

Please prepare one 1-to-2 minute contemporary monologue OR if singing, one 1 minute contemporary monologue and a maximum 32-bars of a song (bring sheet music). Please bring a headshot with resume attached by staples. Please prepare no more than two minutes of content of your choosing. A preference would be for the spoken word: a monologue, scene or poetry.

Youth Actor Auditions

Syracuse Stage invites youth actors (non-union) to audition for the Les Misérables roles of Young Cosette, Young Eponine, and Gavroche. These are non-union roles and they will be cast with more than one actor to alternate performances. All ethnicities are encouraged to apply for all roles.

Age Range: Youth Actors must be born after Jan. 3, 2013, and must not turn 14 prior to Jan. 3, 2027.

 

SCHEDULE:

Rehearsals: Oct. 27 – Nov. 27. Rehearsals are not held on Mondays. Youth Actors will not be required to be at all rehearsals. Rehearsals for Youth Actors will generally occur on weekdays after 4 p.m. and during the day on weekends. Youth Actors may be asked to come in prior to Oct. 27 to work with the music director. 

Performances: Nov. 27 - Jan. Please note that the production schedule includes both morning student matinees and regularly scheduled matinee and evening performances.

Preparation: Youth actors should prepare these songs. An accompanist will be provided. 

LOCAL YOUTH ACTOR ROLES:

YOUNG COSETTE:
Female, any ethnicity, age 6 to 10 years or physically small. Vocal range top is C5, vocal range bottom is A3. Young Cosette is Fantine’s daughter and the Theìnardiers’ ward. She has been forced into child labor. She is underfed, beaten by Madame Theìnardier and bullied by Eponine. A sympathetic character. Young Cosette sings “Castle On A Cloud.” 

YOUNG EPONINE:
Female, any ethnicity, age 6 to 10 years or physically small. Young Eponine is the pampered daughter of the Theìnardiers. She does little except taunt Young Cosette. The role requires no singing or speaking. This role will double with Young Cosette 

GAVROCHE:
Male or female, any ethnicity, age 8 to 13 years or physically small. Vocal range top is G5, vocal range bottom is B3. Gavroche lives by his wits in the streets of Paris. His archenemy is Javert, the policeman. Gavroche is brave, witty and arrogant, with a fantastic, unchanged voice. This role will be cast as either male or female.
