SYRACUSE STAGE’S 50th ANNIVERSARY

FIFTY YEARS. Five decades. A half-century. The golden anniversary. However it is said, the 2023 – 2024 season marks a significant milestone for Syracuse Stage. Since 1974, Syracuse Stage has continuously produced (Covid included) world class, professional theatre right here at the corner of East Genesee Street and Irving Avenue.  As a not-for-profit professional company in residence at Syracuse University, the theatre has also been integral to the success of the Department of Drama and a valuable resource for area elementary and high schools and community organizations. Five artistic leaders—Arthur Storch, Tazewell Thompson, Robert Moss, Tim Bond, and Robert Hupp—have guided the company through fifty years of wide-ranging theatrical experiences, all for the enjoyment and enrichment of the Central New York Community.

Thanks for the memories . . .

Thanks for the memories . . .

To celebrate 50 years of Syracuse Stage, we are compiling an oral history and we want you to be a part of it. On your next visit, we invite you to step into our audio booth, located in the lobby, to record a memory of your experience at Syracuse Stage.  Tell us about your favorite show or special time you had here. Maybe it was a special date, or a time spent with family or friends, or something altogether unexpected. Whatever it is, we want to hear it.  As we collect the memories, we will sort through and choose some to share on social media and on our website throughout the season.

HOW TO RECORD:

Check the screen to make sure the timer is at 0:00. If the timer is running, press the red button to stop. Then continue.

Press the red record button to start recording.

Speak into the microphone. Please start by identifying yourself and your relationship to Stage, for example, if you are a subscriber and for how long. Then share your memory.

Pres the red record button to stop and you are done.

Helpful hint: A little practice and preparation before recording will make it smooth and easy. Know what you want to say before you start. We ask that you try to keep your recording to under a minute, if possible. If anything goes wrong, correct the error and keep going. We can edit out any mistakes.
