In a one-stoplight town in rural Georgia, a group of high school girls examine a classic American drama in Mr. Carter’s honors lit class, with lessons sandwiched between state mandated sex-ed lectures and passionate discussions on the merits of pop music. But when the students start to question what they see as a problematic play, shocking revelations begin to surface that will have consequences far beyond the classroom. A twisty, modern revision of a canonical text, John Proctor is the Villain dares us to toss off our collective notion of “hero”... and let it burn.
