he Most Beautiful Home… Maybe is a devised play inspired by gatherings of people in real and virtual spaces, that tell stories about housing insecurity and the inflection points responsible.
Los Angeles based artists and activists Mark-n-sparks (Mark Valdez and ashley sparks) bring their innovative devised performance piece to Syracuse Stage as part of a four city initiative to examine housing insecurity across the country. The Most Beautiful Home… Maybe offers a nerdy and raucous vision for guaranteed housing. Developed from conversations and workshops with housing advocates, activists, developers, and government workers, The Most Beautiful Home… Maybe is a multi-media performance juxtaposing housing data, Lyndon Johnson, torch songs, and stories of Americans facing home insecurity, past and present. Offered as a two-part engagement and performance event, the project brings together key players in housing policy to envision a future where everyone has a home.
There is a mounting need for solutions to our national housing crises. Can theatre help solve these challenges?
